Narcissist by Second Chance Charade:
With lines like “built your kingdom on a house of lies”, and “I'm a dying ember smothered in your cold”, it is safe to say Second Chance Charade has one helluva hold on an emotional mentality that 15-year-old me would have immediately fawned over.
Between the instrumentals that are simple and catchy, and the lyrics that are poetic and intensely visual. Narcissist paints vivid pictures of the downfall of a relationship. While also bringing you front and center to some of the darker emotions. Loss, anger, betrayal, sadness (but like the kind of sadness that has you searching up “Sad Emo Love Stories”). Simplistic in nature, the steady beat, percussion, and guitar keep you listening to the lyrics as they unfold a story.
At some point, you may find yourself screaming the lyrics.
And this song is great to scream the lyrics to. Very cathartic.

Hailing from the heartland of Kansas City to the landscapes of Waynesboro, PA Scott Shirley is the force behind Second Chance Charade. Starting in high school, playing in an acoustic emo band, Shirley's passion for music and creating has not wavered.

Through music, Second Chance Charade aims to forge connections with his audience by exploring themes of pain, addiction, resilience, and that shallow glimmer of light that persists in the dark. Second Chance Charade's music includes stories of battles and recovery, offering the potential listener a soundtrack to their struggles.
Scott merges his own life struggles with seemingly beautiful ease into the music of Second Chance Charade. Some honorable song mentions are: “I Don't Wanna Die” (relatable) and “Feliz Navidad”.
Feliz Navidad was a bold move, not only is that my favorite Christmas song of all time, but some of the other Christmas music on the album come with “Twisted Tales”. As a big fan of that song, Second Chance Charade did well making a much-needed refresh. If you want a true emo experience, giving “I Don't Wanna Die” a listen will bring you on that journey. I relate because I don't want to die, but I also don't want to be alive. Depression and trauma, huh?

Second Chance Charade – Feliz Navidad
From a listener's point of view, Second Chance Charade is a noteworthy nod to the emo-like feelings I'm sure we've all felt once or twice. That deep-seated anger at the world, that sinking depression that just claws at you. The words that paint each story have me eyeing my finger-less gloves, black skinny jeans, and old band tees like this is 2014. Contrary to visual appearances, it is not just a phase mom.
Second Chance Charade has taken a few chances with their music, especially with that Feliz Navidad number. I look forward to seeing what other stories Scott will paint for us. Keep taking chances with your music Second Chance Charade, you're talented!
